I love the sports of running and triathlon and I’ve been a professional coach for almost 10 years and run my own small gym in Selby (North Yorkshire).
I’m a level 2 Diploma British Triathlon coach and a UKSCA accredited Strength & Conditioning coach, I have numerous other fitness, nutrition and health qualifications.
Over the years I’ve competed in many races of various distances and I continue to train hard (like you!) to reach my full potential.
I’ve never been a professional athlete, but I am very much a professional coach. I am committed to helping my athletes reach their goals and I fully believe that with my expertise and knowledge, I can help you too.
If you are looking for a coach who is obsessed with number crunching then I’m not your man. Data is invaluable and it is how we can track progress and results, but it’s only one element of coaching.
I believe the role of a coach is to understand you, the barriers that might interrupt your training, what drives you and why your goals are important to you. Programmes need to be flexible and as a coach, I need to know when to push you and when to sometimes hold back.
“A great coaching programme should only ever be written in pencil, that way it’s easier to change when we need to make adjustments for the inevitable hurdles life throws at us”.
For a programme to be a success it needs to fit your goals, and your ability, but just as importantly fit with your life. The failure to understand this is where I see many other plans and coaches come unstuck.
